A day to learn

Sunday we went to a field center high in the cloud forest about 30 minutes straight UP from where we are staying.  The dirt roads are crazy here -- thank goodness for our Land Rover and Sebastian's driving skills!

The view from the field center over the valley was incredible.  We hiked for an hour through the forest so we could see what this area looked like before it was converted to coffee farms.  Then we had two lectures about coffee biology and farming, and about the research project we are participating in.  Sebastian's project involves tons of chemistry -- I was in scientist heaven learning about it.    We wrapped up the "work" part of the day with a walk through a coffee field so Sebastian could show us exactly what data we will be collecting when we start our field work tomorrow.

Now it's the end of the day and Miss O'B and I are watching FOX News -- how insane is that?  We both want to find out what's going on in the world and it's the only news we get.  I wonder how long we will be able to stand it!
